A film storyboard is essentially a large comic of the film or some section of the film produced beforehand to help film directors visualize the scenes and find potential problems before they occur. Often storyboards include arrows or instructions that indicate movement.
In creating a film a storyboard provides a visual layout of events as they are to be seen through the camera lens. It is the layout and sequence in which the user or viewer sees the content or information. In the storyboarding process, most technical details involved in crafting a film or interactive media project can be efficiently described either in picture, or in additional text.
For your lesson today you are going to create your storyboard for your music video which you will begin to shoot next week. You need to write a shot list first, then split the video into sections so each person in your group has a go at designing a section of the music video.

Analysing other Media texts
Before you produce your own Media text you need to analyse other professional products to identify the conventions of the products.
If you are producing a magazine you need to analyse magazine front covers, and if you are producing a music video you are going to analyse CD covers in the genre in which you are working.
Magazine Front Page Analysis
1. Find a magazine front page and save it to the desktop.
2. Open it in word and analyse the design features
3. Save the document on the desktop- print screen it so you can add it to your blog as an image
4. Add a new post to your blog- where you explain what you have analysed, how you can tell what genre the magazine belongs to and how it appeals to it’s target audience. You should then add your photoshop jpeg to your post.
5. Your partner group will then comment on what they think is good about your analysis and what you can do to improve it.
CD Covers Analysis of Genre Signifiers
1. Find a CD cover of the band/artist which you are doing the music video to and save it to the desktop.
2. Open it in photoshop and analyse the design features
3. Save the document on the desktop- print screen it so you can add it to your blog as an image

Your Ideas...
For this blog post you need to explain in details what you are going to make. You should say what ideas you have and why you have chosen these ideas- also explain why you think they will be successful.
1. Music Video- explain what song you have chosen (and what genre it belongs to), what your narrative is and who is going to be in the video
2. Magazine- explain what type of magazine you aremaking, the name, the target audience and how it is going to be successful.
